Two Kinds of Pain

Ryan Woodruff

I needed some swimmers to do distance freestyle pace.  Others to do some fast stroke work.  22 swimmers in 5 lanes with 1 coach… how to manage?  Parallel sets that allowed me to go back and forth timing the two groups.

  1. We use “deep practice” to mean whole-stroke swimming where the swimmer focuses on one particular aspect of the stroke. For free, it might be a high-elbow catch or breathing low and fast, for example.
